Levan Songulashvili ((グルジア語:ლევან სონღულაშვილი); born August 17, 1991) is a leading Georgian visual artist of his generation, living in New York City. ==Biography== Levan Songulashvili was born in Tbilisi, on August 17, 1991. He began to paint from age of three. Because of his particular interest in and a special talent of painting his mother had him attend painting classes at The National Students and Youth Center, at an early age. Levan painted figurative compositions, bible and mythology scenes, portraits, since he was 6. At the age of nine, he was able to easily and independently handle the most complex artistic tasks, on which the art academy students were working on. Since then, he was successfully participated in many group, local and international art exhibitions, festivals; he has received a number of awards. As a token of his achievements, the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, awarded the young artist with a special prize and a letter of recognition, in 2008. A wide scale solo exhibition of Levan Songulashvili's artwork was held in Tbilisi, in 2009. The same year, Levan successfully enrolled at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where, based on high appraisal by a jury at an art exam, he had won a full scholarship to study for a bachelor's degree. In 2010, in his second year of studies, Levan's second solo exhibition was held at the art academy, which was opened by a renowned opera singer, Paata Burchuladze. In 2011, the 19 years old artist was invited to Munich (Germany) as part of the visual art project, where he designed a play along with his German counterparts. The western culture, German philosophy and psychoanalysis has influenced the young artist's world view, and he proceeded to new creative experiments and research on his return to Georgia, which was a beginning of a new stage in his art. Levan Songulashvili's artwork received the highest esteem from a jury at a diploma work exposition in 2013, at which a series of portraits was presented, followed by significant success at an international level.〔 Artists and art critics have referred to Levan Songulashvili's art as "unique art, extraordinary talent...", as commented by one of the art critics, "We feel different culture, not only in terms of performance, but at a technological concept and technical instrumentalization level of the concept".
